KCA-EMBARQ SCHOLARSHIPS
The purpose of the Kansas Correctional Association Scholarships sponsored by Embarq is to provide financial assistance to students pursuing academic goals which will prepare them for a career in the corrections/criminal justice field, or a related social/behavioral sciences field.
$1,000
awarded to a full-time student attending any Kansas college in order to pursue a career in one of the aforementioned fields.
The 2008 $1,000 winner is: Shane Maupin
Shane plans to attend either Fort Hays State University or Friends University. Shane states that this scholarship will allow him to pursue his goal of becoming a state trooper in a K9 unit, or becoming an undercover agent for the Kansas Bureau of Investigations.

awarded to a part-time student currently working in Kansas in the field of corrections or criminal justice, who is seeking to complete or to enhance his/her education in pursuit of promotion or other career-enhancing goal.
The 2008 $500 winner is: Lori Travnichek
Lori is currently enrolled at Butler Community College pursuing a course of study in social/behavioral science. With the education she will receive, Lori wants a case management, supervisory, or reentry position within the Kansas Department of Corrections.
